Sunshine Gateway

Concept: An immersive, environmental experience, with the purpose of providing a rejuvinating space for people who are negatively affected by cold, winter months, by simulating summer and warm climates using choice imagery and elements of color, lighting, and flora.
Audience: Public, college students

Project Outcome: Designed and fabricated an interactive decorative fixture with props, lighting, and environmental graphics. Many students and staff members enjoyed the exhibit and took the time to follow the "How do you feel today?" prompt and added to the collection of sticky notes on strings of twine. The installation was enhanced with educational posters discussing ways to combat seasonal affective disorder (SAD) with intent to offer an enjoyable mental health break.
Beyond digital design, source materials included a constructed wall, paint, plaster, foam, wire, dowels, tissue paper, silk flowers, lights, iridescent film, twine, paper, and large scale printed materials. There were setbacks with allocating physical space for my concepts in tandem with an art show, so I had to make modifications to my original plans.
